Description

The purpose of this tour is to give participants a chance to see for themselves what Nogales, Mexico is like beyond the wall with an overview of the region, historically and contextually. The tour begins on the US side with a brief orientation by a BCA guide. After carpooling to the border, the group enters Mexico through the historic Morley Gate to travel by van with a professional driver through the streets of this emerging and quite dynamic city. Tour participants witness firsthand to Mexico's rising civil sector with visits to various non-profit organizations. Besides lunch at a local burrito restaurant, the group is treated to coffee and flan at the stunning La Roca Restaurant where they are met by a member of the US Consulate staff or other business/government leader. Only minimal walking is required on this trip. Alma Cota de Yanez, Executive Director of FESAC, a Mexican organization that functions like a community foundation is our Mexican guide and she is an excellent interpreter for her community where she has been a leader for more than twelve years.

Tours are regularly held twice a month on Thursdays from October through May. Due to the enthusiastic response to our tours, additional tours may be scheduled as staff time permits. Please contact us for more information. In addition to this Nogales-Orientation tour, the Border Community Alliance is now offering additional educational cross border tours
