WEEK 1: HISTORY OF US IMMIGRATION POLICY

This session will start with a brief review of the key events that have shaped US immigration policy, from the original thirteen English colonies, through the rapid growth of a new nation, and to the ongoing uncertainties affecting immigration today. Looking back on this history, the session also will discuss the consequences of immigration policy on the demographics of the United States - who we are today and what we may become in the future. WEEK 2: HOW IMMIGRATION WORKS TODAY

This session will focus on the nuts and bolts of the regulations affecting people across the world, including tourists, students, temporary workers, refugees, legal immigrants, and the undocumented. The session also will include a detailed review of the current US visa process as well as a look at current immigration by the numbers – who enters, stays, and is removed from the country each year. Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 9:30 AM at BMO Harris Bank. 

WEEK 3: CONTINUING THE CONVERSATION

This session will provide a way to reflect on what we have learned, consider the impact of these policies and discuss alternatives. Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 2:00 PM at BMO Harris Bank
